I know this is probably a stupid question...but what (if any) is the difference between a V6 & V8 T-5 Tranny? I have heard that the bell-housing is different...but how about the actual transmission?

Thanks,
D

Basically the internals are exactly the same with different gearing for 1st and 2nd. The input shaft has a different spline count. Other than that, they are the same.

a v6 T5 will not work for a v8 will it?

I plan on slowly building a v8 for my current six banger over the next year or two. When I'm ready to drop it in I want it to be a quick affair (I don't want it out of commision for more than a couple weeks, maybe a month if I allow for the ever present hold ups that pop out of nowhere)

So I'd like to know if I need a transmission ready also.

If not... I'll just ride the 5 speed I got until it's feasible for me to put a newer 6 speed in.

ok...first of all and you can use a v6...just u need to use a v8 bellhousing and a custom clutch. v6 has a pretty steep 1st and 2nd so...its not as desireable............
