thm250c kickdown cable issue
ok Q about a thm250C kick cable setting.
i depressed the lockbutton and pulled the cable housing all the way back,
that went fine
im afraid that the cable is not being pulled out far enough when driving, itg has no kickdown and sometimes it skip jumps shifting from 2-3 shift, well not slip, but its just wierd, not a typical normal GM tranny shift, and its just once out of the blue every now and then, maybe once a day or not at all for longer time than that. and is always after trans is warmed up
and it doesnt downshift when i get on it.. ever..
and it shifts into all the gears by about 35mph, and lockup too, and thats with 2.73 gears even,
do stock GM kickdown cables stretch or something ?
do i need to relocate the bracket ??
thanks for any help, info

is it not a TV cable on a th250C ?
just a kickdown ?
should i disconnect and try then ?
what to try ?
it shifts fine almost always but just now and then it will goof on 2-3 shift
not a slip but something else wierd with the shift, sometimes,
how should the kick cable be set on a 250 ?
shifts seem to be all too early, too low of vehicle speed, and thats even with the cable all way pulled back in its bracket,
thanks

do you have a 200 or 250 trans. the 250 is a 350 trans with light duty parts. The mod can and governer are what control shift timing. you can try adjusting the mod can or it may need to be replaced.

Sorry it signature says 350. So I really don't know. Never heard of a 250c.

ignore my signature, this isnt in the 82 i am working on, i have a million other vehicles incuding trucks up through 2-ton in size, and other vehicles, etc, not just the 82 t/a

i got under the car just now and looked and it has a vac. mod. valve on right rear of case and it has 13 bolts around the pan and a large X across entire pan, metric 250 it is, so its not TV cable model, not a 200 !

83z28camaro is on the ball here, he knows what trans im talking about, so the governor on these controls the 2-3 shift same as on the th350 trannies apparently, as i suspected.
should i try a new modulator valve ? thats what i suspect is bad, probably.
thanks

350, 350C, 250 transmission
3 speed automatic, Rear wheel drive, Uses a modulator on right rear of case and a Passing gear cable. A 250C is a light duty version and uses a adjustable band for 2nd. (250's are not very common)

I would start with the mod can as they are fairly cheap and common to fail. With out feeling what the car is doing or seeing the contents of the pan. It is hard to say for sure what is wrong.

sounds like the can is probably the culprit yeah
ive disconnected the TCC and he cable both and it still does this wierd shift intermittently- out of the blue sometimes- usual;ly always after the trans is warmed up
if anyoen knows anything to check- and hoew to check it then please let me know
the trans seems fine and great otherwise, no leaks fluid not burnt although its due for pan drop and filter replacement
thanks
