trans done and in car, some Q's

the trans is done (700r4) and in the car, what i have in it:
trans go shift kit ($120+ one)
gm rebuild kit
2000 stall converter
kevlar (spelling??) band 3/8 wider then stock

my Q is i just took it for a spin around the block for the first time :biglaugh: and it shifts from first to 2ed under light load at like 3200 and under heavy heavy load it didnt shift into 2ed and i took it to 5000 befor i let off, could this be a miss ajusted tv cable? and my other Q is, im not geting 3ed or OD could this be to the fact that the trans isent shifting into 2ed until suck a high rpm? could this all have to do with the tv cable?

I would say set the TV cable properly and see what happens.

ok ajusted it and the prob is still there, i think it might be somthing in the valve body when i installed the shift kit, so if any one out there has a stock valve body out of a 86ish 700r4 and they want to sell it, please hit me up because i need one vary badly!!

are you sure it has plenty of fluid? on a fresh rebuild, you have make sure everything gets circulated before you know it is full.

did you install the transmission? check the tv cable at the throttle body and see if it has tension. pull on it and see if you feel resistance and the cable pulls itself back in. if there is none or very little, you may have forgot to hook the cable to the link inside the transmission. the valve body has a checkball under the tv linkage that keeps the tranny from shifting if it is not hooked up. it is a safety feature. if you did hook it, you could have knocked it loose while trying to get the cable housing bolted in. this is why i put the tranny in place before final install of the pan.
