G-101 4 speed
Anyone heard anything about the G-Force G-101 4 speed? I'm trashing T-5s like it's my new hobby and am considering a stronger 4-speed alternative.

only thing I can say is that i've heard many many bad things about G force recently...
Sounds like a very nice trans. What's the price?
That inline shifter sounds pretty slick, i'll have to look into that...

Hmmm, never heard of that particular trans, but judging by the picture, it looks like an upgraded version of the Borg-Warner Super T10. I'm sure it's a lot stronger than the T-5 trans. Depending on your budget, you might want to consider a Tremec TKO 5 speed from Fortes Parts Connection. They sell a complete kit for the thirdgens. The TKO is extremely tough and you wouldn't have to sacrifice your overdrive gear.

Pretty familiar trans, if you spend a little time at the strip, and look up under some of the cars in the Pro Stock type of classes.... although I'm hearing that people are switching away from it nowadays, that one is no longer the gearbox of choice.
It's DEFINITELY NOT a drop-in for a T-5 in a street car.
I'd suggest a T-56. Think of it as a 4-speed with 2 overdrive gears added.

Yeah, I realize this, but I know that early third gens came with T-10s and I figured there's probably a way to make it work without tearing up my tunnel too much. It's a street/strip car.

Well I guess that would depend on how much power that is...
Tremec makes the T-56. They bought the whole Borg-Warner automotive transmission product line some years back.

Ran a 7.04 @98 in the 1/8th with the 150.
Why a manual? I like them a lot better.

T56 would be a good choice, they are quite strong. Especially the Viper T56, although I'm not sure if it can be used on a SBC or not?
I bought a standard TKO trans from another board member, and he had it behind a twin turbo 406 that dynoed 762 RWHP. Mine's the older version. The new ones are the TKO 500 and TKO 600, and they're rated at 500 ft. lbs. and 600 ft. lbs. respectively. If you decide to go with a T56 just make sure to get the viper internals and the billet steel synchro keys. I've read that the factory synchro keys are one of the weak points in those trannys. Either the TKO or the T56 with a few upgrades should handle the power you'll be making pretty well.

i saw in one of the hot rod mags like 2 months ago in the new parts section they now make a t56 that will handle 1000 hp , i think it was like 4k for the tranny though , but they do make a t56 that will handle it .
