i posted earlier and had a long confusing post so i decided to shorten it up a bit...
is a turbo 350 tranny with a 4 6 or 9 inch tailshaft the same length as a 700r4

There are very few 4" TH350's. 6" is considered a short tail shaft. 9" is considered a long tail shaft.

To swap out a 700R4 to a TH350 and keep the same driveshaft, you use a 9" tailshaft TH350. To swap out the 82-83 3 speed for a TH350, you use a 6" tailshaft to keep the same driveshaft. You can swap out the 700R4 and use a short tail shaft TH350 if you find a driveshaft from one of the early third gens that had the A3.

The tranny mount for the TH350 is 2" forward from where the 700R4 is. The swap kit provides a proper adaptor plate and a provision to mount the torque arm.

so if i were to find a turbo 350 with a 9 inch shaft then it would bolt right up with the conversio kit,right?... the only thing is ive been told that you only use the 9 inch shaft for trucks......not trying to dought your knowledge at all just relaying info

There's no difference between a car or truck TH350 just as long as you get one with the tailshaft length that you need. It's just easier to pull one from a truck.

i have one last and final question......since i have a 700r4 will i need to do any work to my driveshaft to make it fit into a turbo 350??????
