new trans and converter way early 3-4 shift

yesterday i installed a low milage 92 700r4 in my car along with a tci 4,000 stall converter.
i prpperly adjusted the tv cable, and took the car for a ride 1-2 shift is nice and the 2-3 shift is nice, but at anything less then 1/3 throttle it will shift into 3rd gear at 35 mph and then right into 4th at 37 mph.
depending on throttle possition sometimes it feels like it goes right from 2nd to overdrive.

ive even readjusted the cable a few times just to be sure and it still does the same thing.
is there anything in the valve body i should take a look at to see if its stuck,or could the govener be stuck?or what else could cause this early shift into 4th

Did changing the TV cable setting change how it shifted at all? If you give it 1/2 throttle do the shifts get later? or remain the same?

Sonnax offers a fix for this, it will allow later part throttle shifts while keeping the WOT shift the same.

Dana,
Is this a mod that could be installed in a fresh rebuild, or is it simply a fix?
I just checked sonnax's web site and cannot locate this part.

This can be installed anytime there is this problem. This is not very common, but is the easist way to solve it.

i looke dup that part and it says to correct the tv cable,i dont understand how that could be a problem on my car,im still using a stock throttle body and linkage, along with a stock tv cable and adjuster..

ive actually been able to drive the car again dam bad weather lol,and i was bale to pay more attention to what was happening

the 1-2 shift is fine, its on the 2-3 and 3-4 shift were im having problems
what i found out is as soon as it makes the 2-3 shift my converter is locking up,and its also making the the 3-4 shift with the converter locked.
so for now ive been manually shifting from 3-4 at a higher mph to avoid lugging the engine like its been doing.so it looks liek when i ditch my stock ecm for megasquirt and switch to the b&m lockup kit i should be fine.
is there any mod that i can do to avoid lockup all together in 3rdgear even if the ecm commands it ???
btw thnx for the help

You can do a manual TCC lockup on a switch. All you need to do is find what wire going to your tranny controls TCC lockup. This is usually the front passenger side wire in on the transmission connection, but don't quote me on that. It's going to be a 12V lockup so all you should need to do is wire a switch to give it that 12V it's looking for and you'll have TCC lockup when you want it. I thought there was a writeup on that around here?

My car is doing the EXACT same thing right now.I have adjusted my tv cable as well and gotten basically no results.first, second and third are fine but the 4th up shift happens WAY to early. The car also seems on occasion to surge at part throttle. It has just started doing this.I hope we can get some more answers on this because this is driving me up the wall.I have done alittle rewiring to remove some of the unneeded wires in my wire loom.I didn't cut any of the wire going to the TCC soleniod but the pigtail has some exposed wires.Would a faulty TCC cause an early upshift such as this.(Don't mean to hijack, just trying to solve the problem.not bandaid it with a switch)
