Killed the 700r4 last nite, any ideas?
Ran a 10.76 at 127 with a 1.60 60ft in the gta. Drove the car home(about 60 miles) and while I was pulling into the garage, it stopped moving and puked tranny fluid all over the garage floor. Drove home just fine. I haven't jacked it up to look at it yet, but it wouldn't move in drive or OD, I had to push it in the garage.
I ran the car with the gear selector in D. Does anyone have any ideas what broke?
The tranny was built by a guy who knows these trannies and 200r4's, and it has all the goodies, beast sun shell, 5 gear planateries, billet servo, etc. Car is a 383 miniram, 3500 yank stall, 3.73 gear, 150 shot of nitrous on et streets. I want to stay with an overdrive tranny if I can.

what about a th400, and a gear splitter from gear vendors? it would suppoprt your horsepower, give you more gearing, and allow you to keep an overdrive.

First off, congrats on the 10.76 pass! I bet that was the only one you got to make.
I would drop the pan and see what's in there. I'd tell ya to try Bernard but I think he's out of the trans business. Hopefully Dana from Probuilt witll have some input. May not be that serious.

Well, at least you got a decent pass out of it!
This sounds almost like the TH400 in my buddys mudbogger, everytime hes out in the mud working it real hard it will puke out a few litres of oil. Fill it up and its good to go again!

Since I drove it home for an hour and it was fine, I'm thinking the tranny is good, and it just kicked out the rear output shaft seal. I'll jack it up tonite and see where the fluid came from, hopefully it's just the seal!
I've got more juice to hit it with and some turbo headers in the garage so this tranny is gonna catch some future hell.

False alarm, the governor cover popped off and was laying on the crossmember. I pushed it back on and filled it with fluid and it's all good. I will have to find some way to seal that cover or clamp it somehow.
