700r4 maybe taking a crap?
Ok, i got a 305tbi with a 700r4 trans, when i bought the car it would hang in 2-3 rd gear some so i knew the trans had some wear on it. I replaced the filter, fluid, gasket. there was a good amount of silver sludge "metal" on the mag so im sure the trans was beat on pretty bad. Anyways i noticed that sometimes the trans wouldnt lock up when i put it into OD, sometimes it would sometimes it wouldnt. I tried getting it to lock, but pushing the gas pedel down some it would lock, then it would unlock. Well on my way to work this morning 50mile drive, it locked up i was like sweet!! I come to a stop here at work take off, first gear is hanging and hanging then abotu 5grand it slyly slips into second, i push on the gas about half pedel it reves up, so like i have to rev it really high then it will finaly shift, my question is, is this a selonoid or am i just gonna have to replace the tranny, i have a back up tranny outa another camaro, just dont know its condition.

before you do anything try this, get the car at a roll in 3rd or second 5-10 MPH drop in to first while at WOT for a second and then go through the gears that should solve the issue - it some sort of debris blocking a passage way and doing what I said will accelerate the fluid quick enough to dislodge anything. An yes I have done this on customer cars and my own car a year ago and haven't had the situation return yet, and the worst that can happen is nothing if the tranny is toasted or you'll be comfortably driving around in no time flat

----------
if that dont work thou, im just gonna drive the bastard like i stole it on the way home "50miles drive" and i break it i break it or fix it lol

to really get it to move the passages open while it is in first and stomped are your best bet at about a 10-15 MPH roll. 1.Get the car to 10-15 MPH in 2nd or 3rd 2. drop it into 1st while simultaneously going WOT 3. Release the accelerator almost immediately - What you are doing is trying to get all the fluid in the tranny to thrash it's way through to sort of "shock" the system

if It stoppe shifting even more that a good indicator that there is a lot of debris in the pan so you may have to fall back on your orig plan. BTW when you put into first and punch it you need to let right back up off the throttle. Sorry to hear that I've saved a lot of those trannys from unneccessary rebuilds that way.
