tranny wont hold gear when not on the gas.

What would cause this? The tranny shifts great, shifts on time, etc but if you put it in first and mash the gas it will go but when you let off the gas the tranny disengages and drops to idle even though the car is still moving as if I put it in neutral. Does this for every gear selected but OD on the shifter. Any suggestions?

If you get back on the gas does it pull again or just zing the motor? Do you run a stall converter? If so how much stall?

Judging by is modification list and his quarter mile time I will have to say he does not have an aftermarket TC.

I think you just need to readjust your Throttle Valve cable.

Sorry I should have mentioned that that 1/4mile time was with a very hooked up tranny but that one has since bit the dust and is sitting in my garage. The current one is all stock with a stock stall. When the good one went out i had to find a replacement quick and a buddy of mine owns a junkyard/tow yard so i got one from a 3rdgen that drove in but never left. The motor was a 350 in the original car.

so you really don't know what was done to this tranny? what you describe is exactly what happens when you modify the valve body or buy an aftermarket valve body with "no engine braking."

Gonna run it till it dies, just like the last two. New motor is going in soon so Im gonna do a higher stall converter and be done with it.
