As title states. I have an 88 IROC auto with a 2.77. Installing a reman trans and the one that was in it isn't original. I need to know what color driven and drive gears I need for correct speedo operation. Thanks. I did a long search and am way behind getting this car going. Any help greatly appreciated.

I would start with a red drive gear , 17 teeth

I have a yellow 19 tooth drive in it. This tells me to get a 41 tooth driven.
I will get one ordered, you are the man!

Hey Tom, do you know what the difference between the two housing are?
the 34-39 and the 40-45? I have two 34-39, doh!

 

One sets the driven gear further out than the other , if you take notice the gear gets bigger with more teeth.

If you drop to a 17 tooth red drive gear , you could the use a 35 tooth orange colored driven gear which will re-use your housing .

That is providing you haven't already ordered them .

FWIW , I have a red drive and an Orange driven gear sitting right here if you need them . P/M me .

What is the tire height you are using for the formula ?

Weeeeellllllll, too late, trans is in the car. I will get the bigger housing when I order the gear. Thanks for the offer though, it will be easier to swap the driven at this point. I was just hoping I could use the other housing. Thanks again for your help , now if I could just fix the rich problem.............
