what grade bolts to use to mount pressure plate to flywheel?

bought a t5 conversion kit, but the guy wouldn't give up the flywheel, or the bolts. i got the bolts to mount flywheel to motor , but not the clutch plate to the flywheel. i just bought some grade 8 bolts and lockwashers but they aren't black. does it matter ?

Just as long as they're grade 8. I'd also put some red locktite on the bolts and don't overtorque them. What size are the bolts?

Yes it matters.

DO NOT use regular hardware-store hardware for that!!!!! At least, not if you have decided that you like your feet, and would like for them to stay attached to your legs for as long as possible.

Both are "special" hardwares. Clutch bolts have a long shank that's larger, fits tightly in the clutch and about 3/8" into the flywheel, to make a sort of "dowel pin" effect; and flywheel bolts are unusual too. Readily available at almost any parts store, in the "performance" aisle, from Mr Gasket and others. Very very cheep - maybe $8-10 for a set of each.

Get bolts from ARP. Their is a reason they are different from most bolts.

Summit does; Jeg's does; they're hanging on the wall at your local speed shop; maybe even at AutoZone, I think I've seen them there.

I would deffinitely buy the proper bolts for the flywheel and the pressure plate. As sofa said, the bolts have a shoulder where they contact the plate, thus there are no threads to chew up. - vatozone/discount, etc all have them in their craptastic performance isle.
