Yeah i put on in my car. I bought it for $125. Go with it. It is a strong rear end.
What gears are you going to put in it? I have 3.23 in mine with the zexel and with the 305 T.B.I it will get up and go.

I have the SLP take-off ($99) and it's working great. I've had in it since January and it locks up whenever I need it to, yet it corners with no problem.
Yes they are supposed to be good. GM puts them in the new Camaros and Firebirds, Ford uses an upgraded version in the Cobra R, and I believe that Dodge uses them in the Viper.

I plan on 3.73 or 4.11's. probally 3.73's
Am I paying too much? $130? It is off a new Z28 or SS and it is used(low miles).

Well, SLP was having them on special for $79 or so. These are taken from the new Camaros too, and have almost no miles on them.
I'm running 3.73s right now, and in my opinion that's on the top end of what you'd wanna run on the street as a daily driver. If I were you, I'd check out Richmond gears website and play around with the MPH calculator. Our tire diameters are about 25 inches, that'll give you an idea of what kind of RPMs you'll be looking at.

I have one in my car too. I got it from SLP and its a very nice unit. Can't beat the price either, especially with the sale going on!
Consider yourself lucky, you don't have to go hunting for the 28 spline axles!

Fellow thirdgen/coworker/buddy of mine is having trouble with his Eaton and called SLP about the Zexel. They told him to get his Eaton fixed, it's a better unit. He's putting out close to 400 HP - they said that's too much for the Zexel. I suppose you could argue it's too much for the 10-bolt, but that's what they told him.
Thought you should know.

Those SLP's are pulled out of new camaros and firebirds and replaced with a stronger version. Why do you suppose they do that?

So, for someone who dosn't have a posi would you guys recommend this or what. My car will be used for the strip mainly. Originally I was saving up for the new no slip traction system by Powertrax for $415 from summit. Or the locker they offer for $315. I don't mind spending the money on quality parts. After I completely rebuild the rear end I don't want to do it again for a while.

Engine: 350tpi comming soon!
Transmission: fixed the 700r4 again!
for most thirdgen cars the take off units will be just fine. most of us are producing less then 300 hp anyway . the reason the went to the storger unit is stricily numbers. in the camaros producing more hp and if the add mods they wanted the rear end to support all that power. basically its all based on numbers
