Axle Swap...

I am wanting to swap my rear end for an Iroc rear end

I currently have a 2.73:1 Gear Ratio....and drum brakes

I am wanting to get a 3's:1 Gear ration with disc brakes but dont know how about going and doing the swap...

Aka...what do i need to replace mine with an iroc's with discs besides a new prop valve?

And yes i have a 4 Link suspension....

If you have a 4 link you cant swap in a stock rear end out of an iroc without modifying the stock rear end which isnt worth the effort. If your swaping stock rearends for drum to disk all you really need is the valve you metioned.

Re: Axle Swap...

If you have the stock 3 link (or do you really have a modified 4-link, on a 305 TBI car?) then it is a direct swap...no mods NEEDED, although some will say you "need" to swap master cylinders, many successful swaps will prove you don't NEED to.

I'm unsure that "prove" is the correct word. While the new rear may work without swapping the proportioning valve, for best performance, I'd suggest, as I do in the sticky, to use the proper valve. Hey, the valves are different for a reason.

Re: Axle Swap...

Just exactly what kind of suspension do you have? If you have an after market suspension then why mess with a weak 3rd gen rear end at all? Why not go with something stronger and just swap the disc brakes onto it? You could use a SS Impala 8.5 10 bolt or a second gen Camaro 8.5, or many others.
