Calling Ed Maher or anyone else that can help me!!!!!

OK guys I need help with my torque converter lock up. i tried to e-mail Ed but his e-mail isn't working. So if Ed or anyone else can help me I would appreciate it.

Here is the problem: Hey I am having trouble with my torque converter locking up. well let me explain my situation first. My car is an 89 RS that was originally a 305 TBI
engine. Now it is a carburated 350 engine. Obviously the computer was taken
out, which I thought would cause the converter to be unlocked all the time.
But when I am cruising and it hits 2nd it locks up and becomes sluggish. Your
instructions tell how to lock the converter. If I hook up the wires and
switch the same way as you say to, will I be able to un lock it? I need help
fast because i am selling the car and i don't want people that are test
driving it think that there is something seriously wrong with the car.
thanks
Tom
P.S. sorry for being so long

If you Hookup the wires as he describes, It will lock when you ground the solenoid, and unlock when you unground it.

But bort doesn't know how to get his stuff in the hole.

Anyhow, to make it permanently unlocked you can unplug the TCC harness at the tranny. Then the solenoid would have no power. If it was still locked, you'd have to open the tranny and do something about the TCC solenoid cuz it would appear to be frozen.

AHAHAHAHAAA... and he is a major DORK too!

You need to ask yourself, why is it locked when there is no computer signal to tell it (ie- TCC solenoid is grounded) to lock now that there is no computer. Something is FUBAR... and you want to hide it before you sell it to someone

Thanks guys i will try to unhook the converter with the things that you mention. And no i am not trying to hide that the tranny is locked. I just want it fixed. Would you want to buy a car that is sluggish while cruzing or would you rather buy a car that has good throttle response? Not yelling at anyone just telling you why i am fixing it. Thanks for everyones help!!

Here'sa quick test. While driving along with the TCC locked, also hit the brakes. If you see the rpms jump (TCC unlock) then you know the problem is the TCC ground is shorting to ground somewhere making it always lock. Otherwise the solenoid is frozen. The only source of power to the TCC solenoid is through the brake switch.
