3rd gear soft shift

I put in a shift kit in the 700r4 1 to 2 is good but 2 to 3 and 3 to 4 is still very soft. I have the lock up wired so i have to turn it on and even when I leave it off or on its still soft. will a corvett servo make the shifts 23 34 any harder???

Re: 3rd gear soft shift

I've never been able to get any 700R-4 to give a solid 2-3. That's just the way it is, as far as I can tell. as for the 3-4, that shouldn't be a solid upshift, the related parts are too weak for such nonsense. If you want to bark the tires into third, you must abandon the 700R-4.

Re: 3rd gear soft shift

If the trans is in "good" condition, install a modified TransGo shift kit from ProBuilt Automatics, or better yet get a Street / Strip overhaul kit / trans from ProBuilt. Solid 2-3 up-shift? Heck yes!

Re: 3rd gear soft shift

I got the shift kit from probuilt and the 2-3 shift is very firm at wot, the tires almost broke loose, i bet with a 350 they would.

Re: 3rd gear soft shift

I had a 2-3 shift flare that started one day in my s10. I put in a cheap B&M shift kit, which helped the trans in virtually all respects, but did not help the 2-3 shift firmness. It made it upshift faster, but not firmer if that makes sense. My TCI 700r4 in my car is awesome, and shifts just as firm 2-3 as 1-2. You don't have to abandon the 700r4, obviously there's a way. A corvette servo or larger can't hurt, check out this site- you may find some good info.

Re: 3rd gear soft shift

lockup slips anyway so it won't help much...

88vette with 2.59 gears and trans go 2-3 kit, I bang out 1-2 any time I want and very firm 2-3 hahah I bet once it gets colder out it might be able chirp 2-3 at 90mph, I think I might have built my trans to max the sun shell can handle. Transgo kits are very good, they have steps on how to mod the servo that will help too.

Re: 3rd gear soft shift

I used the transgo kit as well and it's great. I did the stage 2 but then put in the stage 1 1-2 shift spring cuz that one was a little hard for my taste, but now it's all nice and firm.

Re: 3rd gear soft shift

Awesome Info THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!!!! I am getting this info a little late but I havent done any trans mods since this post. I used to get an e-mail everytime someone replied but for some reson I dont get thoes anymore (Ill def have to fix that mail prob) and looks like iv missed out on the exact info I was looking for. Im def going to look into a pro built trans or at least a transpack from them. I have the transpac from b&m but it only good for the 1-2. I useally get the TCI transcat but I havent see one of thoes in a while. But thanks agin this 2-3 soft shif is killing me lol.. It shifts like..........................1-----------bark2-------soft3-------soft4 lol. Which 3-4 being softer I can handel but after my 2-3 now I get out of the mood to keep the peadl down.. Who carries the shif kit and trans you guys are talking about???????? Im just going to do a search on probuilt and see what I come up with thanks agin!!!!!
