TCC lockup toggle switch: pro’s and con’s & proper operation

Did search, found the article, but to many opinions spread out all over the place.

https://www.thirdgen.org/torqueswitch

Can we narrow it down.

What are the pro's and con's of having it on a switch?

What is the proper operation or use of said swtich for the novis?
[since it is the cheap way out when you lose the computer]

Street use
When to turn it on, what speed, rpm....
When not to turn it on.

Racing
When to turn it on, what speed, rpm....
When not to turn it on.

For racing you would leave it on the whole time right? 1st won't lock anyways.

I don't run it locked up racing, afraid the lockup won't take the power, I don't even run into 4th gear during racing (slow fluid movement, and hot = bad)

I run it on the street locked up only when i'm in 4th gear, BUT i don't let it hit 4th unless I am at least running within my powerband so it doesn't bog

The TCC clutch is a weenie little thing that was intended to be unlocked under just about any acceleration at all. I wouldn't lock it up at WOT.

Re: TCC lockup toggle switch: pro’s and con’s & proper operation

I run mine solely from a toggle - I had a vacuum switch installed, but wasn't happy with the timing of the lock and unlock, so I disabled it and I run solely on a toggle. I lock it when I get above 50mph and then only when I'm going to be on a decent cruise (aka highway with no upcoming red lights). I unlock whenever I start slowing for the upcoming stop - like right when I fall below 40 mph. Hope that helps.

I figured you left it on for racing cause it was suposed to shave almost .2 seconds off the quarter?

Does anyone know of a place other then GM Parts direct to get the vacuum switch? I keep putting in the number into their search and it keeps coming back as unavailable.

Try one of the alternate vacuum switches listed.
