Will this B&M Tranny bracket work with the factory shifter cable?

I keep melting the HD B&M shifter cables so I want to go back to stock.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-35498/

I don't have the factory 700r4 adapter anymore and can't seem to locate one online. So I'm stuck in park! Help!!!!!!

EDIT: I'm only wanting to use the linkage that connects the tranny to the cable, not the rest of the cable bracket

It should. Thats the same bracket I am using on my TH350 setup. As far as melting cables maybe I can help as I did go through 2 B&M cable before getting the third one to work. And there not cheap either so I feel your pain. What I did was to have the cable come out of the grommet on the trans tunnel and then go towards the front of the trans. It then looped around towards the passenger side and then I brought it on top of the tailshaft and into the cable bracket. I had to use a kinda long cable but it has worked for a few years this way. I use a long zip tie to keep it tight on the tailshaft and that keeps it away from the exhaust enough to not burn it. I also did put header wrap on my exhaust just where it got close to the trans. I dont know exactly how your exhaust is but it sounds like true dual that crosses on both sides of the trans if your burning cables.

i dont think it will work. is the cable melting from the exhaust or from something else? like a bad body ground.

Its melting on the exhaust lol, I run the cable underneath the tailshaft and above the exhaust because it wont work going over top, it seems to bind up when I try it that way. I may look into a longer cable that can go over top of the tranny but yeah, $45 bucks for a cable gets old quick!

I know its been a few days since this post was made and not sure if you've already bought parts but here is a pic of my car I was able to take today. The cable comes out of the hole in the trans tunnel and heads towards the motor then makes this loop. When it passes over the tailshaft, it heads directly to the cable bracket. I already removed it becuase I'm in the middle of taking the trans out, but I had a big zip tie around the tailshaft to hold the cable still.

Nope, the car has been sitting on jackstands since lol. I forgot the length of cable that we need lol. I'm gonna route it exactly how you have yours. THat should take care of my melting issue, going above the tailshaft.

What part number is the B&M cable we need?

I'm not sure of the part number. I bought this last one a few years ago. If I remember right its just a universal part. The trans is getting taken out of the car tomorrow to start mocking up for the T56 so I'll measure the cable and post the length.

Well I didnt get anywhere near as much as I wanted to done today so I didnt get to take the cable out of the car. But I did measure from the hole in the trans tunnel under the car to the end of the cable. It was 4.5' so I'm guessing that its the 5 foot cable.
