Shifter for TKO 600
I am planning on swapping in a tko 600 into my car soon and had some questions about what to use for a shifter. From what I know, the tko comes with a hurst shifter on it when you buy it. So, would all I need to do is buy a aftermarket shifter handle and that would be it? (Plus modify it with a drilled plate to move it back far enough). What shifter handle could I purchase that would make the shifter resemble the stock shifter? I would like it to remain at the stock shifter heigth. Any shifters you would recomend?
Re: Shifter for TKO 600
Might be an issue of personal preferance. I used to use a TKO, in my old F body, not the 600 though. My car was a FB as compared to your Camaro. I found out on my trans anyway, that a longer stock length, like the one they supplied, was not ideal. And the one supplied was just horrible, as far as shifting, and fit with a stock console goes. After playing around with a few shifters, I settled on a Pro 5 0 shifter. That was basically a short throw shifter. Cleared the console, and nice shifting. HTH.

Im not a fan of the short throw shifters and would prefer not to have one. Does anybody know the length of the stock shifter?

the stock shifter is a "short throw" shifter.
the steeda tri-ax shifter works too, just have to lengthen the handle that comes with it a little. the setback of the handle is perfect though

to use the supplied hurst shifter, the handles needs to be setback 2", you can do this with a steel/aluminum plate to bolt everything together, or fortes can make an offset shifter.
I have the offset shifter, and i use a hurst c3? shifter stick, the height is close to stock. That particular stick is rather expensive for some reason though. Not using this setup anymore since i changed ot a tri-ax.
the stock hurst and the vette stick

hurst 538-7991 stick, i think
fortes offset shifter thingy

somebodys trans with a setback stick, dont know if it works or hits anything
