So I was putting some new lifters in my car today; pulled the carb and intake and all that. And When I pulled off the carb linkage the plastic piece for the TV cable that attaches to the carb was brittle and broke apart. I have it zip tied on there right now to get me home, and my shift points are pretty high as to be expected.

Can I somehow just replace the plastic piece or do I need to replace the entire thing with one of these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RNB-04260/

Side question: Was it 87 that the 3rd gens switched to hydraulic roller? Or was it hydraulic lifters?

 

That's what you need. I don't think they are fixable.

 

thats the wrong cable, thats to change gears. (PRND321)

patc sells a end to repair the detent/tv cable.

be sure to get a real gm cable,tpi parts on ebay sells them cheap.

 

B&M has a nice universal cable for around $30.

 

What is patc? I would much rather put a new end on it than go through the nightmare of replacing the entire thing
