Does the governor recal kit fix downshifting?
As it says, I am looking at the B&M recal kit to adjust my WOT shifts, but does it help the downshifts too? I feel that my roc could downshift to second and still be under readline at crusing speed but it won't. Cable is adjusted properly I just need some tuning to the trans as it is not original. I have a transgo stage 1, vette servo, bigger boost valve and all the other rebuild upgrades except the shift points I want. Any help is appreciated thanks.

If you make the WOT shifts later, the downshifts will get a little easier. If you want to make a change now, take the governor out and remove the lighter of the two springs. You must leave in the heavier one. This will make the part throttle shifts slightly later, WOT shifts slightly later, and downshifts a little easier.

I'd be doing something about that right away, and THEN, and ONLY THEN, worrying about the governor. That's why your governor can't seem to come up with the right gear to be in: there IS NO right gear, with that .... dung .... out back. Whatever gear it's in, is too high; and the next one down, is too low. Or, if the one it's in now is too low, then the next one is too high. That's a rear gear problem, not a governor problem.
I agree completely. The ratio sucks pretty bad. My 305 86 roc with a 3.23 felt alot better then this 350 with the 2.77. I don't know what GM was thinking. Probably the whole fuel mileage standards across the label thing. That still wouldn't fix my 4500 WOT shifting though, I want the full 5500-6000!!!

Thanks man, that is exactly what I needed to know. Do you have a site and a kit? I would glad to buy from you for helping.

The governor will change the 1-2 shift more than the 2-3 and the 3-4 shifts. To get all three shifts up at 5,500 - 6,000 rpm at WOT will take more than a governor change. You will need the valve body and governor from a Z28 or a Hi-Performance Corvette.

Pro build,
can you give advice to me.I need to lower shift points at my th700r4 trans. It shifts now at 7000rpm at wot.I think 6500rpm would be better(engine makes max power ~5900rpm)Trans shifts also now to second gear at 70mph when I floor it hard.
Is it valvebody modification or just governor mod?

Re: Does the governor recal kit fix downshifting?
If this is really shifting at 7,000 rpm at WOT, then someone who knew what they were doing (unless you have one of those GM transmissions that was not supposed to get out) to get the 1-2 & 2-3 shift valves along with the governor to give you those WOT shifts at that rpm. GM's highest WOT shift points in a 700R4 was the Corvette at 5,900 rpm - 6,100 rpm at the most. If and when you take off the pan, get me the letters or numbers off of the 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 shift valves. They are on the front of each aluminum bushing in the valve body.
