need help, i screwed up
ok am a moron so now thats out of the way no bashing
when removing my shifter out of my bird ( 700r4 ) i had cut a line rather then taking it off. Question is i dont know what line i cut. It was attached to the the right side of the shifter, the lines runs under the carpet and goes through the firewall behind the brake pedal. I am installing a B@M megashifter, What did i cut out of stupidity and how hard is it going to replace it

Re: need help, i screwed up
would like to say cable, its pretty thick
not my picture but that was the location on the stock shifter. I think there were 2 cables, one comes through the trans tunnel, and the other one runs behind the brake pedal and goes through firewall

Re: need help, i screwed up
doubt it matters or not but the cable was black. Why is it ran up toward the firewall and nowhere need the trans tunnel? Where exactly does it go to, from the shifter to where? Like i said i didnt cut the one that came out of the little hole in the tunnel, i thought that was the gear selector

The name is park lock cable. It's not terribly difficult to replace, but you only need it if you care about keeping the interlock working.

Re: need help, i screwed up
whats pros and cons? If i can get away with not having it, it would be less of a headache for me to replace. Its not a daily driver as am planning on it getting 2 mpg lol. Would be so kind to give me some more advice on it?
is this by any chance what keeps the steering wheel locked while in park?

the cable in question locks the shifter into park if the ignition lock doesn't have a key in it. well an unlocked ignition.... i havent had mine hooked up for over a yr. didnt feel like hooking it up after i changed out my ignition switch.

Re: need help, i screwed up
seeing am installing a b@m megashifter dont i have to hold up he handle before i disengage it from park? So in theory it cant come out of park unless that handles up anyways?
If thats the case i wouldnt have to worry bout my girl taking it out of gear if she's sitting in the car while its off. If you can confirm that for me it will put my mind at ease lol

Re: need help, i screwed up
You cant use the park lock with the mega shifter anyways. In the instructions it explains how to tie it so it never locks the wheel. If I were you I would leave it be as long as it wont get in the way. And yes you have to pull the lever up to shift from park to drive gears. Also megashifters are a little stiffer than stock and they require a pull back to get into reverse.

Re: need help, i screwed up
You stick a small screw driver or probe in along the cable conduit to depress the retention tab away from the cable end and pull the cable out. You are going to want to remove that whole white plastic thing and the rod anyway since you are going manual transmission. Instead of that cable, you'll want to rig up a clutch peddal switch to interrupt the starter wiring.
