mosser 9"?
i was looking for somthing a bit stronger than a factory axle and i found the mosser 9" my question is there is an option between detroit locker and trutrac posi which of these provides good street response for normal driving like the factory axle but good drag response?

Re: mosser 9"?
trutrac is a posi that acts more like stock stuff. The locker is NOT recommended for turning
My buddy had one and it is loud around turns, clicking and such. Almost like its binding up. Its designed to lock up both axles so in turns one tire cannot spin faster than the other like it should.
I'd go for a trutrac

Re: mosser 9"?
I had a detroit locker in my 9" for years. Mine was not loud, maybe I tolerated a lot more than most. I used it for 25,000 miles with no issues. Yes, it is a little harsh at times. Like when you start throwing power at it, it sways you to the left a small amount then to the right on deceleration, but only once in a while. I ran it from a 13 second car till I got 9.30's. I never worried about it breaking. It works great and you wont regret using it if you want serious traction. Do your homework on how it works, it may be too radical for you, but only you can decide what you want and can live with. Good luck

Re: mosser 9"?
well i basically need something stronger because im in that 420ish ft pds of torque with my rebuild and i put in a level 10 pts 200r4 trans so thats just next in line to replace but i also plan to do a little road racing/ short circuit stuff along with draging it so i need something that is the best well rounded.

I have a locker in my car and have had not ptoblem with it on the street, had one in my chevelle which \I ran for years on the street making 750 hp, I never found them noisey at all. A locker is my choice, especially if you have a car with any power

Re: mosser 9"?
From my understanding from talking to Quick Performance about there 9"s.
Locker provides posi, but it tends to be a little louder and harsher when it locks up and unlocks.
True-trac is also a posi, but it uses gear type drive and will lockup and unlock without the noise and harshness. They said they are low maintenace and recommended for daily drivers.
At a point everythings a trade off you just need to decide which direction you plan on going and go with it.

Re: mosser 9"?
I've been running a Detriot Tru-Trac for about 4 years now. I can't claim near 750HP, but I get a respectable 495 ftlbs at the wheels, and no issues. If I have any complaints about them at all, it's that they seem to want to stay posi and squeel the rear tires a bit if you apply power while turning at times.

Re: mosser 9"?
If you really want a good diff, look into the wavetrac stuff...expensive but well worth it from all the reviews i've heard, including some local racers i know. I am likely going in that direction once I blow this 10 bolt....
