Re: 91 camaro axle swap from 2000 z28

No.

4th gen rear ends I think are 2 inches longer. So 64" total while 3rd gens are 62" from flange to flange.

It's best to stick with 3rd gen rear ends to 3rd gen rear ends. But all the internals can be used. I.E. differential [granted the spline count on the axles are the same], brake parts [drum brakes]...etc.

Actually...I'm not sure what you mean by "rear axle." Drive axle or driven axle???

No? What world do you live in?

Yes you can, as Rocketyman said your wheels will stick out a bit farther and from my experience just a bit from the fender lip. Its all fine if you are planning to run 4th gen wheels. Just expect the wheels to stick out with stock 3rd gen wheels. A search will give some pictures and results from this.

If you want to beef up the 10 bolt or keep it alive, eliminate wheel hop, weld the axle tubes, girdle, etc.

Take note that the 2000 OE rear end is no stronger than an OE 91. The advantage would be in the type of limited slip and/or brake type.

Why would you want your rear wheels to stick out and look ghetto??

Lemme tell you...once one of your buddies notices a SMALL minor detail about your wheels sticking out, it bugs the SHHT outta you. And if you wanna run 4th gen wheels, you'd then have to mess with the front hubs...that's if you even like 4th gen salad slicers on your car which look whack...on a 3rd gen.

"No," if you wanna keep the look of your car--and your sanity.

Please do some research and see that they stick out not as bad as you think.

Here I did the search for you since you will probably won't...

and

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/post...673-post1.html

Its not that bad, and not ghetto. Its fine until you can find some wheels you want to run. Who stays with stock wheels when their making a build? Who said anything about going with stock 4th gen wheels?

Its a shame you passed on the rear, I plan to ditch my 9 bolt for a 4th gen 10 bolt when I get the chance, I hate running spacers on aftermarket wheels.

Re: 91 camaro axle swap from 2000 z28

Hey syn 77 I totally did this. It was a direct bolt in plus some minor brake and ebrake work. Yep it sticks out 2 inches which I knew it would. I personally love it and looks more aggressive. I had after market mags on my old drum set up17" they work fine on the 4th gen rear out of a 2000 ta. Disc brakes from a 99 z28. I don't remember having any great issues doing this swap but message me and I can help you out.
