Need help Identifying Ford 9" rear
I found what I hope is a great deal on a Ford 9" on craigslist. I already bought it, and from spinning the axle have determined it is a 4.10 ratio. It was sold to me as having 3.70's..... oh well.

It supposedly came from an 86 camaro and had the early 80's GM cast iron brakes on it. The guy stated it was a Currie rear, but the torque arm mount doesn't look like any on their website.
Just wondered if anyone can ID it from my crappy cell pics....
I have it at my buddies shop, letting them go through it and make sure its not a total waste of money. I'm sure with what I paid for it, It will be fine.
thanks!

Could be a currie housing, but the mount is odd. It could be an old style TA mount from them.

Re: Need help Identifying Ford 9" rear
dont look like a Currie to me. (a few things to look for) ya never know.
if it was from Currie. it would be have a small tag on the back. held on by 2 rivets. with there Logo. and stamped with a part# on the top of the unit.
also there TA Mt starts off with Tubes welded to the Housing.
when i orderd my Currie. it was cheaper to go without the TA.
I dont used it on My car.
wipe the top of the housing off clean. look for the Part #
this is stamped on By Currie. if it's made by them

That looks like a junkyard diff with third gen mounts welded on and a home made torque arm mount. Installing the mount with those small bolts is very weak. I wouldn't trust it. I doubt any aftermarket seller would have installed a mount like that.

yep, seems to be the direction I am leaning towards as well
shame the tq arm mount seems to be the weak link of it. I'd really like to run it.

you can have any good shop weld the Tubes the the housing.
THEY WILL SELL THEM TO YOU. or you can make a set.
the set up is easy..
looking at your pics. somebody took the time to use fresh spring pads and did a nice job.

Re: Need help Identifying Ford 9" rear
Well I have found the tq arm mount for $150, but that might not be in the budget right now..... I'll have it gone thru and regeared and run it as is on street tires until I get the money for the bracket.....
sad part about that tq arm mount is it has so much clearance... nothign to hit the floor board.
I wonder if it went all the way around the 3rd member if that would make it stronger???
i am not a fabricator though, so its prolly best that I don't try to reinvent the wheel at this point
thanks
