Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Which Flywheel for t-5?

Yes it will work, except that will be the heavy one, since it's for the low-perf LG4 motor (VIN H).

Get the one for a VIN F (305 TPI) for any year from 86 to 92.

Re: Which Flywheel for t-5?

Hi Sofakingdom: you have some great posts! I have a low mileage 86 LG4 stick so I have been memorizing your recommendations if I ever decide to mess with it. It's so tempting to hotrod an immaculate survivor......I already have the manifolds and the dual snorkel air cleaner on the shelf!

Just to clarify, do the 1986 engines have the distinction of having the one-piece rear main and counterweighted flywheel but didn't get the roller cam introduced in 1987.....right?

Re: Which Flywheel for t-5?

Right. '86-up cranks are 1pc. rear main seal but the blocks still aren't factory-roller-cam provision equipped.

Re: Which Flywheel for t-5?

Exactly: 86 is a kind of "oddball" year. 1-pc RMS, but perimeter-bolt valve covers, no roller apparatus, and old-bolt-pattern intake.

Thanks for the good word BTW.

You'll find that there's certain people around here that KNOW these cars inside and out (I'd put jmd squarely in that group for example), some that are more experienced than others but haven't seen all there is to see, and some that are just getting going good... each adds some unique perspective to the hobby. The trick is, determining which is which.
