I just rebuilt my engine in my 84' camaro and put back in! I got it started and when I try to drive it the autotrans wont shift out of 1st gear! I had some problems with getting the vaccum line back where they go because my sons phone we took the pics with broke so we lost all the pics of the before vaccuum lines! Anyway I asked about it in carb sec but havent got a answer! I thought this may be more into the trans section! BTW if you already dont know this, but this is elct controlled trans not vaccuum control modulator! Anyway I really could us some ideas on how to hook this up, Thanks

 

It's not electrically controlled, either.

Check the TV cable.

 

yes the tv cable hooked up, but dont remeber if its right! So is the TV cable what controlls the shifting?

Have you checked the govenor

 

I dont mean to sound like a noob but when it comes to tran im lost! Can you tell me where the governor is on this trans and if possible let me know what other things to look for that could cause this? I just got all the info on hooking up my vaccuum lines and it looks like this isnt causing the problem with this car not shifting out of 1st gear! So now I need to narrow it down, the car has been sitting for a couple years! the trans does have rev, but when in drive it wont go into 2nd or 3rd! Thanks for your help and any advice will be helpful BTW its a TH700r-4

 

The govenor is right in front next to the speedo housing put pop the cap off and pill the gov out and check the gear

 

athanks again im going to check 2day! I also noticed the speed meter on the dash isnt working, it just sits on 0 when drivingand I have doubled checked the the plug!Could this have somthing to do with it not shifting to?

 

The governor gear is most likely broke or stripped to cause you not to have any other forward gears.

 

this happened to my 1984.new gear fixed it.
