permantely wiring tv cable out
permantely wiring tv cable out
If I extend the tv cable out by unhooking it from carb and either tying it into position or using vice grips to keep it out could it work? I mean unhooked you can't use it because of no line pressure, but going the other way should keep it pressure at max all time.
Will this hurt trans?
Can I shift manually?
I was going to look into a full manual valve body, but I don't have the cash so would this work?
Im very skeptical about the bracket on the car and the geometry.

You won't have control of upshifting, all your shifts will be late and hard.

The extra line pressure will hammer on things pretty good but you'll get tired of it long before it does any damage.

Then copy stock parts and their geometry. Look at the post I link below, then click the link at the top of it back to the original thread. The "dammit, read the site that goes over it" is there. The "here's what parts to use with a non-stock carb" is there. Pics of stock junk courtesy me, is there.
If you shift every time at full pressure, you'll break parts. Full pressure shifts at full engine power work because both modulate each other.

Either post pictures or say exactly what parts you're running.
Re: permantely wiring tv cable out
i will get pics when i get a chance
the bracket looks like it is a th350 bracket, holds the throttle cable and the TV cable. mounts on back of the carb using the two rear bolts

Just a guess (without your pictures) but that could be from a 1980s through 1990 Oldsmobile Q-jet application (b-body / g-body) or aftermarket.

Re: permantely wiring tv cable out
Looks quite similar to the Oldsmobile bracket.
The carb is a quadrajet.
Im coming to the conclusion, from everything I been looking at on the internet. That there are many different brackets of all shapes and sizes. Seems to be as long as it pulls the cable straight and the trans doesn't shift to early I should be fine?
Pics when I figure how to put them on..

If your Q-jet has the OEM stamped bellcrank plate bracket with a swedged end (pressed / stamped) to retain that bracket,) it more than likely is the correct carburetor attachment point.
Now go back and read the "700-R4 shifts late" thread again. There's a link to TV made EZ and it goes over everything needed to set it .
