305 700R4 VS 350 700R4
I need to replace a transmission. I have a 91 Z28 350 automatic. I know on the V6 transmissions some people say have different internals and shift points ect and i want the performance to be the same as the one I had. There is nothing moded there stock for the every day driver. I am getting on from a 305 motor. Is there a difference in them? Thanks

Re: 305 700R4 VS 350 700R4
Possibly different governors, probably different second-gear-servos, some L98 700R-4s could do a WOT 3-4 upshift from the factory, possibly different wiring between the filter and the VB, but nothing else of consequence. Change the servo, governor, and wiring over, install a new filter, and then try it.

Re: 305 700R4 VS 350 700R4
If it's an 'early' 700R4 (pre 87) than it was a 305 tranny & it dosen't have an auxiliary Valve body. If it's a real early 700R4(83-85?) than it will have a 27 tooth spline input shaft and requires a Torque Converter for 27 spline trannys. 86+ Thirdgen trannys were 30 spline IIRC.
Regardless of the year: the MAKE of the car often dictates what was inside the tranny. The springs inside IROC tranny's are always "better" springs than inside LG4 trannys for example. ( at least in my experience. ) IROC's / Z28 also got a higher stall TC from the factory than lesser V8 bodies ( Coupe, RS, Berlinetta. )
Be sure to remove & reuse your original Governor, Speedo Gears, and Speed sensor !
