Which wires from 700R4 for torque converter lockup?
I installed a Pro-Built 700R4 with an Edge torque converter into my 84 Camaro about 10 years ago. I did not hookup any of the wires for the torque converter lockup at that time. I'm taking the car in for a dyno session this weekend and would like to hookup a toggle switch to do this.
I noticed coming out of the trans I have four wires:
-Light blue with black stripe
-Light blue with white stripe
-Light green with black stripe
-Light green with white stripe
Does anyone know what each of these wires do? Also, is a relay recommended for a lockup switch?
Thanks!

Thanks for the link.
Unfortunately, none of those harnesses seem to match the color of the wires I have on the harness coming out of the trans.
Any thoughts?

Grounding A to F on the ALDL may work. One is grd, one the solenoid line.
As for "those harnesses" not matching color, you didn't read too far if that's all you got out of that link.

I would THINK that as long as you go by the pinout positions it will work the same. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. We have no idea of you car, year, whether you have the ECM hooked up or not with the info you give.

Sorry I should have clarified. When the trans was installed, there was no ECU in the car at all. It's an 84 Camaro that was stripped of all computer components, so no ALDL. I recently installed a FAST setup, but the trans has never been hooked up to anything.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Check the plug, "A" is power(12v.) "D" is ground

It looks like only A and B are labeled on the connector.
Is there a standard for which of the other two would be C and D?
What should B and C be connected to? I assume one would be a brake switch if you were hooking this up to a vacuum switch, which is what I'd like to do eventually.
Thanks again.

After removing the ECM harness your best place to tap back into the ALDL and the Brake Switch will be at the C207 connector ( dash-to-ECM harness.) on your 84 the ALDL, Tan/Black wire = Pin "H" & Brake, Purple wire = Pin "P"
Here's how I do it,..... Use ported Vaccum for the vacuum switch.
There's a more detailed "Sticky" that covers TCC in the CARB forum too.

Re: Which wires from 700R4 for torque converter lockup?
Thanks for the replies.
The ALDL is definitely out of the car.
From what I can tell from this thread (and others), it seems that if I connect Pin A from the trans to +12V fused power and Pin D to ground, I can run a toggle switch to control Pin D (ground) to essentially manually turn lockup on and off. Does this sound correct? That's what I would like to do temporarily until I either hook up a vacuum switch or get my FAST ECU to control it.
I would essentially not be using the wires from Pins B and C if this were the case.

That is correct, but I would use the power from the brake switch or the motor will stall when you stop.
