Im swapping the GM crate motor 10067353 into my 86 camaro, and the bell housing from the 305 doesn't fit onto the 350, and I don't know offhand what the stock manual 5 speed transmission is that came on it. If someone could fill me in with some bell housing suggestions and what the stock tranny was on these vehicles?
just out of curiosity, what is the correct starter to use? I use a 305 starter on my 350, couldn't get the 350 starter to fit. Should I be using a differnt one?

Have you experienced any problems using the starter from your 305 thus far?
Look to see if your block has two or three mounting holes for the starter. If you have two, make sure they are inline along the edge of the block. If so, the bell housing will fit if you use the 153-tooth flywheel and a stock starter. The same is true of you have all three holes. If the two holes are not inline, then you will have to use a 168-tooth flywheel, corresponding starter and an aftermarket bell housing like the one Lakewood offers for our cars.
168-tooth flywheel. The block is a '74 and is only drilled for this starter location.

Okay so I feel a little silly now, bell housing as you all confirmed most defiantly fit just fine. the dowel pins indeed just needed to be cleaned off. I'm going to go make sure the flywheel I bought will work with the bell housing and starter here in a few hours. After that is confirmed I will start changing out the cam, springs and rockers. Will keep you posted thanks so much for the support... first engine swap I'm attempting.

Good luck with the build.the first time is the learning time.
The starter thing isn't about "305" and "350", as such; it's about 12.8" flywheel vs 14" flywheel.
Only a 12.8" setup will fit in a T-5 bell housing, regardless of CID. Sounds like the setup for your 350 was 14".
Actually, a 350a third gen starter will crack a T5 bellhousing, (and not allow a T56 bell to bolt up at all,) but the 305 starter fits them. Both starter are for the 12.8" 153 tooth flywheel. The nosecones are different sizes. I've posted pictures of both about as often as you've posted the throwout bearing picture.

Cool. Good luck with the start-up of your new powerplant.
So it's been a painfully long process only having about an hour to work on it during the weekdays, and a struggle finding some parts but its finally done and going in tomorrow. I will attach photos very soon for any interested in seeing them. One question I have though, is if anyone could give me a ballpark estimate of my horsepower and torque output (i know it will be a small increase, it would just be nice to have an idea) after these modifications to my crate motor part # 10067353:
Camshaft: SUM-K1104
Valve springs: SUM-174001
flywheel: NAL-14085720
carb:560 cfm edelbrock preformer series
