700r4 shift point issues 1-2 2-3 HELP!!
okay ive been playing with my trans ($1600) some more and the car still shifts at 3500-4000rpm for the 1-2 2-3 shifts not crisp shifts either.. the trans has a 2400 stall acts like a stock stall and shift kit that you cant feel it has a lock up TQ converter but scince I converted my car from TPI to carb I don't have the computer in the car or the trans pluged in I swear before the motor swap the car would run up to 5500 or so then shift that was 3years ago so cant remember for sure ive played with the kick down doesn't seem to effect it and all ive seen about the governor kits is that it effects the 1-2 shift I ordered a Governor kit just to see if that helps other wise the trans is gonna come out.. im truly lost at this point

1st... It's not a kickdown
2nd... Do not play with it.
The 700r4 uses a TV (throttle valve) cable. It controls line pressure in the transmission. The TV cable most be set right or you can burn your trans up.
It is nothing like the "kickdown" or detent cable on a th-350 trans. That only controls the detent valve to force a 3 to 2 downshift
Do you have the correct aftermarket TV cable adapter and bracket for the carb you are using? This is important.
The governor controls 1-2 and 2-3 WOT shifts.
I have the B&M gov kit in my th-400 and set it up for 6400 rpm WOT shifts. Both 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift happens at 6400

Stock TV cable is fine to use. You just need the adapter and bracket to fit it to a carb and get the geometry right.
There is no "kickdown" cable on a 700r4. The TV cable controls line pressure which controls functions of all up and down shifts with the 700r4 trans

No. If it really is a 2400 stall, and your tachometer isn't way off, then it's either lack of input torque from the engine, or lack of traction, or too much axle ratio. For any given converter, it will stall higher with a 2.73:1 axle than with a 4.10:1 axle.
Now, if your tires are spinning before you get to 2400, that doesn't mean the converter isn't working, it means it is working well.
Line pressure, controlled by the TV, can affect shift points, with any given governor.
If you drove WOT with not enough lone pressure, then you could have hurt your expensive transmission.
Did you transfer your old governor?
Here again, for any given governor, it will upshift at a lower RPM with 4.10:1 gears than with 2.73:1 gears.
