what type is the GM VSS

what type is the GM vss ?

below to work with auto meter speedo

Speedometer Senders The speedometer is designed to operate with an electrical speed sender. The speed sender signal range must be between 500 and 400,000 pulses/mile (310 and 248,500 pulses/km). Any speed sender or electronic module that meets the following two conditions can be used: 1. Pulse rate generated is proportional to vehicle speed. 2. Output voltage within the ranges listed below: • Hall effect sender, 3-wire (5 to 16V) • Sine wave generator, 2-wire (1.4 VAC min.) • 5V Square wave (CMOS) Recommended – Auto Meter Hall effect sender, 3-wire 16 pulses/revolution. 5291 Standard 7/8 – 18 thread

Re: what type is the GM VSS

I think yours is a magnetic pulse 4k ppm. If the signal needs to be changed for tire size gear ratio you can use a Dakota digital sgi-5 .

thanks for the reply..
thinking of just installing auto meter everything../racepack type if I have to take it all out...

looking at what I would need..i want to leave my auto meter tach in it's place now..and install the speedo and other gauges in the dash face... not going to run the speedo and tach side by side....(like every body)

gear sets and tire size can be swapped in a day to what I want..

tire size in the 28 to 29" tall
have now 325/50/15
could go 245/45/17

4.11
4.56
4.30

Re: what type is the GM VSS

Autometer sells Hall effect Vss sensors. You would have to convert to a cable drive instead of the Vss that’s in there now. I think it’s just a matter of changing the gear and housing.

https://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=...using&_sacat=0

You might want to check with autometer it might be considered number 1

Re: what type is the GM VSS

eBay and I think tci sells the drive and driven gears. With that many rear gear options a gps Vss might be the best .
