Please help with TKX conversion questions
I'm in the middle of a conversion on my 92 RS 305 with a 700R4 to a TKX and there's some things that aren't going like I would like them to.
1. I just want to make sure I understand the pedal box wiring as I have more switch contacts than I believe I need on the 4th gen pedal set;
Are there only two electrical connections for the clutch pedal? one for the cruise control and the other for the starter interlock. My clutch switch at the top of travel has two sets of contacts and the only thing I believe wires to it is the cruise interlock. Is there some other circuit for the clutch?
2. This will be my bigger concern. When I got the swap supplies from Summit Racing I was told that I need a 168 tooth flywheel for this swap. I have it ready to install but I know the current flywheel is a 153. I know how to space the starter with shims to get the proper clearance but are there other negative repercussions I'm not aware of yet? It IS a 1 piece main seal flywheel.

Re: Please help with TKX conversion questions
Responding to my own post;
1. I found out by printing all the appropriate shop manual pages that there are just three connections that have to be messed with. With the 4th gen pedal box upper clutch switch, there were 3 different connections on the switch and I'm just using one of them. The cruise control interrupt is the only one used I believed earlier that I had three different circuits that had to be wired and it freaked me out. The brake pedal just needs one wire broken and wired to the clutch switch. No need to mess with the other stuff.
2. Tomorrow I'll install the flywheel and see what comes up on the tooth count (size) difference. Whether it works or not, I'll post back whatever catastrophic repercussions I run into when I'm done. If anyone knows flywheel stuff, it would still be nice to find out issues before the trans is in and needs to be pulled to swap it to correct it.

Re: Please help with TKX conversion questions
This is your lucky day sir
I started a post last year TO INSTALL A TKX TRANSMISSION .lots of good information there several people have added to it .. I myself finally have everything installed and plan on updating my original post very soon
The one year delay was due do finding my engine was no good in the middle of my transmission conversion ,
hope everything works out for you

You can use what flavor flywheel/clutch assembly you want .. that being said for hi horsepower applications that use multiple disk clutches. you will need to step up to 168 tooth flywheel, with matching bell housing/ scatter shield

Re: Please help with TKX conversion questions
I know high hp is relative but my dual disk is on a 153 tooth flywheel. No doubt a larger flywheel can handle a larger diameter disk(s) but my setup is good to 750hp. And thats w organic facings. There are a bunch of options at this point. This setup is between a SBC and a magnum t56. I don't think the transmission cares what size flywheel the clutch is on.
