Remote Fan Cooled Transmission Cooler location

I am getting around to installing my Derale 13950 fan cooled remote cooler. I am just trying to find the best location. I see people putting coolers in front of the rad/condenser, but those are ones without a fan to cool them. I don't want to block the rad/condenser if I can help it. I don't want to run it to the back of the car either.

What are everyone's thoughts.

Front of the car....is the most effective. With a fan you can run it in back or underneath, as longs as there's some sort of airflow.

I mounted one just a little bigger, with similar 8" fan, mounted almost horizontal under the RH battery tray area-puller fan on top, protective grille under Plumbed it with -6 braided stainless, worked good there for ~18 years-later relocated same setup to above the batt tray vertical position after batt moved to spare tire well.Check the fan is pitched correctly for desired airflow direction-pull through is more effective, but can cause a buzzing noise as fan blades chop through turbulence caused by cooler core.

Under the battery tray is what I was thinking. Now you say RH is that looking at or away from front end, I mean was it the passenger or drivers side?

Would be good to have tranny fluid temp gauge too: ~ 150-200* good,in summer could probably run the fan constant.I have gauge sender in pan,but might relocate to "hot" cooler line next time I change around anything related to cooler setup.

You have any pics of how it's mounted and plumbed in?

I'm running a bigger Derale hyper cooler 13870 with my built to the nuts 4l80e and have it mounted in the rear bolted to the sump. I have the bolts sealed to the body and then bolt the cooler on so I'll be able to remove the cooler if needed and leave the bolts alone

I did have an inline thermostat hooked up but didn't like what I was seeing on my laptop. So instead I made a custom I/O on my Dominator using the internal temp sensor on the 4l80e to switch the fan on when the temp hits 180F and shuts off at 165F. Works flawlessly

Re: Remote Fan Cooled Transmission Cooler location

I got it mounted, plumbed, and now wired (not shown in pictures). I started the engine and let it run and no leaks.

It took way too many fittings to make it all work. I was going to use -06 AN fittings and hose, but would still have needed quite a few pieces.

First time you drive over the top of a possum, raccoon, or road debris that whole thing is gonna get ripped right off.

But hey, at least it isnt mounted in front of radiator. If only there was a place on the car that got lots of air flow while moving and was reasonably protected from damage. Hmmm

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever read buddy! But nice try. It's a remote cooler it's large by huge but you already knew that didn't you?! Have fun driving your stock car
