Excessive distance between Throwout Bearing and Pressure Plate

Hey all, need some help. I'm doing a t5 swap on my 1986 Camaro and I've gotten to the point where i'm installing the transmission, but i've run into a snag. There's roughly an inch of distance between the throwout bearing and the pressure plate, and with the clutch slave installed, the throwout bearing sits against the pressure plate as such an angle, it gets in the way of the splines of the clutch.

My Camaro has a Gen 1 SBC with the large flywheel pattern, and the swap kit I got came from a 1987 Z28. I bought a lightweight flywheel for a Gen 1 block from Speedway Motors, and used the Pressure Plate/clutch/Throwout Bearing/Clutch Fork from the '87 Z28.

I must be missing something. Could the flywheel I bought be too thin? I'm kinda at a loss. Here's some pics of the setup, and the angle the throwout bearing is sitting at

I could possibly buy a stock flywheel for a 1984 Z28, but that's just a hunch..I don't know for sure. Would love some help or info

Used pressure plate 🧐, are you sure the fork is for that bell housing ?

Considering it all came from a 1987 Z28, saw the vehicle in person, and watched all the parts get pulled from the vehicle, I can confirm it came from that car. Bellhousing and all

Furthermore, here's more photos of the clutch fork lining up directly with a replacement clutch slave for a 1984 Camaro, so I don't believe it's a clutch fork issue

Re: Excessive distance between Throwout Bearing and Pressure Plate

Fork not installed to bell housing properly

Changing the flywheel won't change the centering of the fork in the hole there, unless it moves the center of the crankshaft over to the side somehow

There's a little spring kind of thing on the back side of the fork with 2 fingers; those fingers are supposed to grip the pivot ball

Found my issue, Throwout Bearing was inserted too far into the radius of the shift fork, I pulled it out a little and it instantly snapped into place. Now it's flat against the pressure plate, and everything lines up correctly. It's the small things that get you, lol. Transmission going in later today

The latter would have resolved the initial perceived (non)issue.

Throwout bearing rides the sleeve on the trans.

Now if you tightened the pressure plate bolts while the disc was aligned slightly high of center, you'll have a successful stabbing. If you paid no mind to disc alignment while tightening them, you'll do it twice.
