87 GTA 9 bolt question
87 GTA 9 bolt question
Hey guys not sure if I screwed up. I swapped out the axle bearing on my passenger side went pretty straight forward. My issue is I can't get the axle shaft all the way back in. I've rocked the other wheel some hoping it would mesh but its in like 95% in if im making sense. What else do I need to do or did I screw up, never did this before. Thanks in advance!

Re: 87 GTA 9 bolt question
Make sure the bearing and collar are pressed all the way on. to the axle The other thing it could be is the posi cone and spider gear splines are not lined up. With the transmission in park or in gear (immobilize the driveshaft), hold the opposite wheel still and while installing the axle, when it doesn't want to go any further, turn the axle a little bit to rotate the posi cone and line up the splines with the spider gear. Depending on how good the posi is, it may or may not take some force (2' breaker bar between the lug studs will do it).
