she drank too much!

ok i think i commited a sin.....how much trans fluid is supposed to go into the th700r4???? i think i put WAYYYYY to much and thats whats making my shifting suck ***... i got the TV cable right and all that bull crap, and it will shift fine when the trrans is cold.. but when it heats up it prolongs shifting, and even at high rpms when im racing is just kinda bogs down and doesnt shift right at all.. its taken out my nice hard shifts from the shiftkit as well..this all sound TOO MUCH FLUID related??? tomorrow im gonna cyhange the filter and fluid and put the right amount in...which is what??? lol....anyone like the B&M quick shift fluid?? or is it a waste of cash?? i was gonna get it so let me know!

4 quarts????????? that won't even half fill my 400. i have a dink 10" convertor. i even got a stock pan and it takes about 9 quarts to fill mine.

unless of course you are talking about just a drain and fill without draining the convertor.

i did check the stick, thats y i siad its over full. when i was adding fluid to it, i wouldnt let it warm up enough for it to be checked, so i kept adding till the stick siad it was full. then after driving for about an hour and i check it,, its almost, if not past the 2x's area...so i learned to drive it till it gets nice and hot before checking and adding!!! i was jsut curious on the side edffects of too much fluid. now im debating on moble 1 or valaveline DuraBlend ATF..........

DO NOT install BM trick shift!!! It will ruin your trans. Just stick with a quality brand of Dextron Mercon 3. I had heard from Dana from Probuilt automatics that he only uses mobil fluid not mobil1. He recommends this all the way.

ummmm ****.......well your all gonna yell at me....i couldnt make my mind up and it was either B&M or the generic Auto Zone ****,, they were all out of the Mobil 1 or anything else.......so i got the b&m at a damn 4 bucks a quart..WASTE OF CASH!!!! well i look at it this way...there is what 12 qts of transmission fluid TOTAL in your car(i thought)....and 5 of its is now B&M....so the other 7qts is gonna delut the B&M pretty good as it is, so im guessing the only problem im gonna have is being low on cash from the damn price! i hope other think the same!! i can see how draning it all out and replacing it all with B&M would be bad,,, but only 5qts???

I hear an empty 700R-4 and converter will take 10.5 qts of fluid. For $5-$6 a qt for the Mobil1 it better make the trans last FOREVER.

I'm sure that i'm stating the obvious, but you only need to fill the converter once. After that you are looking at 5 qts per fluid change. I run synthetic for the reduced drag properties these fluids exhibit. I'm not certain synthetics will prolong a components life, but it's all about going faster, right? Thoughts?

I filled my fresh TCI 700R4 with the full synthetic after the 500mi break in, and 20,000 miles later I ended up with 1/2" of metal shavings on the bottom of the pan and no shift out of 1st.

Just got it out today (Good excuse to put the 388 in anyway) and here I could see a bunch of lunched plates and torrington bearing cages (less the bearings) sliding around inside the converter. Ohh well... I think the tranny is still good (shifted nice up until it just stopped, I think it just got plugged up)

By the way it was a Saturday Night Special TCI converter. I doubt I'll buy one of those again.... Not to mention the lockup never worked correctly since day one...

A big waste of fluid... I figure it's better to regularly change the fluid and filter on a regular basis with generic API certified Dexron II/III than to put the best fluid in and then neglect it. If it's going to break it's going to break....
