hehe v6 turbo question to **** everyone off

i was just wondering how fast you could actually expect to with a twin turbo 2.8/3.1 liter f-body.Lots of people have been talking about doing it but no one has said anything about how fast you could go with it,everyone either says get a 350 or turbo a 3.4/3.8.Thanks for the info...ill probably post this in the power adder forum too,to get more opinions. But yeah, thanks in advance for your thoughts.

i think you need better flowing heads and intake b4 you would see any power gains

after that the sky's the limit....as long as you have a strong enough bottom end to support more boost

so if you port the crap out of everything at least,or maybe get a new fuel injection setup like the guy on the link from project: 85 ,then is it possible to get it to runs 10's on race gas?And does anyone know where to get forged parts for the 2.8/3.1's?Thanks for all the info so far.

You dont have to port anything. Don't listen to Teal. Get forged internals. a decent size turbo (don't get a huge one or your lag will be too much) and dont go twin turbo. You don't need to. If you want to know the best way to set a turbo engine up with these cars and are really serious let me know and I can help ya out.

It is true that more air is better but in a forced induction car you don't need to port anything to get more power. I would also strongly not suggest running alot of boost when/if you do this idea. Alot of boost and boom engine.

I ave a list of mods that need to be bought/done to the car to run serious boost. If you want it let me know. I am currently woking on a Centrifugal S/C for my car.

I would recomend this too. EVEN THOUGH force feed engines WILL get more FLOW, the ablity to flow SMOOTHLY becomes a big factor.

The casting process leave alot to be desired on our cars heads. Yes it gets the job done, but its far from perfect. I would bore/port out about 1/8" AND FOR G O D S SAKE LEAVE THE 'HUMPS' IN THE PORTS. They increase airflow. I would personally "rough" port 1/16, and smoth port the other 1/16. yes I know its a small number but you do have coolant tubes real close by.

Also, the MORE a head an flow, the better the engine can use the boost. Once you get to a certain level the fatory casting will actually ceate a "back poressure" area and hender flow, falsely reading higher PSI levels.

The biggest problem with a turbo is headers. None makes them. For turbo's anyway. I will try, but the outlook is dim. Unless I get a higher $$$ bender its a lost cause.

I would suggest getting a turbo with a BAD exhaust section, and do like me. Turn it into a Centrifugal S/C.

I am tring to come up with an article to post on my site about turbos/centrifugal S/C's and what needs to be done to have them work right.

its not so much too much boost will kill a forced induction engine, its detonation when boost is present, i know GN guys running 25+ pounds on stock bottom ends(NO i'm not saying u can run that on a stock 2.8 bottom end hehe) with no problems as long as its tuned right and there is enough fuel present

BUT if they were to get major detonations they'd be driving over their crank lol

Well I am hoping to get into the 12's.. HOPING...

Name change.. my name CHD(yes camaro_hunter_d) suddenly stopped working. I have tried clearing cookies ect, Dirk and '350 say that it is not banned, and I verified it with the main user list so I have no clue WTF is up with that.

PS I also have a second project going on now hopefully starting next week... Converting my TBI to TA DAHHHH TPI! I have the intake, injectors, harness, and comp for about 450 bucks.... Can't beat that with a stick. Cheaper then converting to carb too!, not to mention the added power!.
