which rotors to buy?
which rotors to buy?
I'm needing new rotors and i was wondering what would be the best to get? I was thinking about the cross drilled ones cuz i heard they give u better stopping power.I also saw ones with kind of like little slots on them,i heard they'll eat up you'r brake shoes really fast though and this is my everyday ride. Are the cross drilled ones really that much better or should i just buy some regular rotors?.......Andy

I got a set of these rotors on ebay here is a set thats still up for auction ive had them 3 months with no problems. I am using the autozone carbon metalic pads lifetime warrenty so when they go bad i bring them in and get a new set free. That way you wont have to wase all your money on pads.

Drilled rotors and CarbonMatrix pads are great for everyday street use. Try http://www.stillen.com/ Their website is vague, you might want to call them for better answers.
These are on all of my street cars.

Good point, fastRS, we should've all replaced our front and rear brake hoses at least once by now. They deteriorate internally, clog, and mess up the braking. Plus, they can crack externally, and blow out!! Think about it.. the newest that any of our stock brake hoses can be is 10 years old! A hose is about $15-$20 each.
I replaced my fronts back in '96, and I'm thinking of replacing them again this year if I can get around to rebuilding my front suspension. And Gumby, even though my front calipers work perfectly, if they're the originals, they've got over 235,000 miles on them- so I'm going to pick up a set of those $10/each front calipers. (And if they're not the original calipers on my car, they haven't been changed since I've had the car, and I bought it with 65,000 miles on the clock!)

Tom is right about them hoses. They break down and clog inside.
I had one so bad it was making my left front tire lock up. That is a fun ride when your tire wont turn. I had to get in a place safe to work on it and I removed the brake pads and drove home.
When I found out new calipers were 10 bucks I got two new ones, the brakes hoses were 14-15 bucks each.
I thought it was the calipers but it was the hose. Even with the hose off at the caliper, pushing as hard as I could nothing came out.

My father had that problem with my car when my mother drove it...the caliper would constantly lock up and my father must have put about 3 of them in...and at the time they weren't 9.99...something like 40 bucks...but of course they were lifetime...it took him three times to figure out that the hose was not good...oh well though...he's a F*rd man anywayz and really doesn't concern himself with my car...and while I'm here...i'm gonna ask this question although it concerns suspension possibly...when i brake from a speed of maybe 20 and up...i hear this clunking noise from the drivers side tire...any suggestions...i do have a bubble on that tire that I noticed and am changin them tomorrow...but could it be the brakes...or possibly the strut mount...cause it also sounds like a groaning brake noise...but maybe its the bearings...cause when i had my rotors cut...i recall the seat inside coming out and I popped it back in...however I guess its not spose to come out and it should have been pressed in...any feedback...if not...I'll go to the suspension forum...just figured there are some good people in here that know their sh*t...

My car was doin that and it went away when i replaces the caliper when i took it off it was shot IT had 200,000 mmiles on it. Rebuilt calipers with a lifetime warranty are 12.99 at autozone thats after you bring in your old calipers. Yimr for sleep now its 10am and ive been up all night.
