aluminum valve covers

I saw some great looking aluminum valve covers on an off-road 2.8, but I have no idea where to find them. Does anybody know? Thanks.

Only aluminum valve covers I know of were the one found on v6 fieros. Maybe the guy had a set of them put on?

Thanks for the reply. I'm told there is an after-market source, but I'll be darned if I can find it. Oh, by the way, these rocker covers are taller than normal to clear big block rocker arms (1.6 as I recall).

Edelbrock does make chrome cover for the v-6. Problem is, they do not have the necessary baffles for the PCV system. The fiero covers are taller than the ones found on the F-bodies.

They (Fiero covers) are slightly taller, and should clear roller rockers no problem (lots of Fiero guys run them). There are no clearance problems with the upper plenum.Redraif and I polished the fins and painted the rest candy red and put hem on her car last week. Just be sure you use Fiero valve cover gaskets (molded rubber). You'll also need a round style PCV grommet. On hers we ran the stock oil fill cap on the drivers side and a small chrome breather (Spectre I believe) on the other. The holes in the Fiero VCs are larger, so I ran a small flat washer under each VC nut to help spread the load. The outer VC studs may need to be replaced if you have the long ones; the short ones are threaded further up on the stud than the long ones. Rob them off any 2.8, thats what we did.

Fieros have 2.8s, but 2.8/3.1/3.4 engines are the same externally, so they'll fit your 3.1.

YES
A Fiero engine is a FWD 60* V-6 up to Series 1 (1986).
All Fiero stuff fits.
BUT not all of it works right.
If ya lay the top of the Fiero intake on the Fbody intake, it aims the air inlet at the alternator.
It'll fit, but, not right.
The valve covers fit correct & will be a nice addition.
I know I scored a pair of Fiero valve covers myself & I need one more set now (for my Blazer 3.4 engine).

Hey Ked85

Does that 1985 Blazer have a carb? I swapped a 3.4 into my 1986 Jeep Cherokee (originally it had a 2.8). That's where the valve covers are going. I wasn't sure that the Fiero valve covers would work on a carb'd engine.

I plan on install ing a MPFI unit one day.
By the time I do so, the V-6 Fieros in the yards may have all dried up so I'm grabbing now!
No CARB'D V-6 CANNOT USE the Fiero cover.
Brackets for cables on the Carb'd valve cover!
My 1985 Blazer is carb'd yes.

Don't let me be your guide.
Having both items in hand, the brackets welded to the steel valve cover hold the brackets/fittings for the carb'd cables.
Improvise that & you're home free
Other side holds a smog thingie of almost zero weight.
The brackets & cables are a must be holding real good item no weak I hope it holds.
Good luck.
ME?
I'm installing the S-10 Blazer valve covers painted gloss black against orange Chevy long block with all media blasted aluminum attachments just like the old 60'-70's days. I'm gonna score a pair of Corvette LT-1 crossed flags for valve covers for the final touch.

I think I'll just hit a junkyard and get some used valve covers. Mine are cracked and leaking. Thanks again for the info.

Score all the valve cover nuts ya can find.
That's to your advantage.
It's a messy job.
Wash engine first if ya can.
These covers look really nice blasted then painted layers of gloss black.
Bring to a radiator shop for a quick cleaning.
Make sure all surfaces are flat & clean of stuff.
I also use the flat spacers from the oil pans of V-6 for extra "pressure".
Grind to fit.

Stock F-body covers are cheap stamped steel, Fiero ones are cast aluminum finned covers.

Having bought a set of the Fiero valve covers (that I can't use) I would say they look a lot better than the stamped steel.

They're not lighter...weigh about twice as much as the steel ones because they're a lot thicker. They do look a lot better, and seal better too (no worries about bent flanges).

Looks nice Dale! I don't think Shannon has any pics developed of hers yet, but we'll post them soon. I polished the fins and she painted the rest with testors candyapple red. They turned out nice!

Dale, now you just need a shiny oil cap, and you're set! Got mine thru Summit, it was made by spectre, was a regular oil cap with an aluminum cover on the top. I bought the one with the anodized blue cover. Not sure if Spectre's sold by summit anymore, but you could hop to their website and check.

If the mrs decides to start showing it that engine bay will be cleaned up alot more. Thanks for the tip though.

I got the headliner done this week. Got my blisters in. Got the clear marker lights in.

Just bought some expensive jewlery, so getting the z hood, reg left fender, and a new spoiler are kinda on hold for a bit.

Also in search of 4th gen seats and consel.

To many ideas, not enough money

Fieros use a screw in type filler cap as opposed to the F-body push in type. The right kind could probably be found though
