im realy **** the f*ck off right now! my car will not start.
all right lets start from the top. yesterday morning i go to the auto parts store to get some bolts for my transmistion and come home with a thermistat and a gasket and gasket sealer. i go to install the thermistat and the top intake must be removed so ok i remove it. no problems. intall new 180 thermistat, well when i took off the top intake some of the gasket was beaking apart. so being the smart person i am i didnt whant the gasket going into the motor so i broke the part of the gasket off b4 it fell in to the motor. ok not a problem. but i figured that to keep a vacume leake problem i used some of the gasket sealer (the same stuff i used on my thermastat) to seal the any air leaks that might occor. and when on my way installing the top intake. everything going smothly no problems. with every thing back the way it needs to be. i try to start the car
no go...the gages do not even come on
so i figure wtf it must have somthing to do with the ground. so i move the ground from one top intake bolt to the nexed one
the car comes to live..i start it no problems i have and air intake leake
(between the top intake and the lower intake) so i remove the top intake once agin and spread more selent down to stop the leak. i put every thing back on onece more like it was. the car will not come to life
the head lights work but no inertior stuff works ? so if mess around some more and figure that the body to top intake ground is no good. i move the ground frome the top intake to the egr valve(the closeis thing that was ground to the block) and the car starts
. so ok ill get a OEM gasket and intall it and everty thing should work! NOT NOT NOT my gasket came this moniging and i installed it did every thing grate. put the ground back on the top intake and tried to start the car. the inerior gages came on and i when to start the car and ___________-nothing?
i sanded down the ground where it connects to the body and made sure that it had good contact.
im out of pations with this pos and out of ideas.........wtf.......
please help and thanks for putting up with me when im pissed!
thanks chirs

could you be possibly overlooking how charged the battery is...maybe in all your playing with the ground you somehow managed to drain the battery or the battery just happened to be that low?
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't crank cuz of a vaccuum leak

I don't know a whole lot about the electrical but it kinda sounds like you blew a fuse or a fusable link of sumthin.
i dont think it would be a link becouse it started one time and the interior lights will come on somethimes. but iwill check the batory ground!.also my headlights work so i dont think that its has anything to do with that battory!

Dude, are you grounded to the intake?
No, no, no... hook your ground to the engine block itself - or as close as you can get. Sounds like a bad ground to me!
Hold on I'll get pics of mine..

Ok, camera battery needs charged, so that's no go..
I've got my ground hooked to the leftmost (passanger-side-most) bolt of the altenator bracket. Works good for me...

WTF is that doing there??
Is this a 3.1 thing? That ground strap should be going to the right rear passenger head. Does your negative battery cable go the bottom passenger side of the engine block?
Also what's the negative jumper cable going to?
