Just buy refurbished ones from Pep Boys or whatever, they arent that expensive, if you return your old ones to them they usually give you like 10-20$ off. (Each)

Yeah, but see, I'm not worried about cost!! Man, nobody on thirdgen.org understands that...

I want to know what's better to do!!

I'd prefer to rebuild my own... but the idea of rust has taken hold... I can only scratch out rust with sandpaper. A rebuild company can actually hone out the piston bore and re-polish everything... I can only play with 400 grit sandpaper.

I think I'll call my local "real" parts store and see what they can get for me tomorrow. Should be fun to change the brake hoses and calipers Friday morning, or, Sunday afternoon.

If you're not worried about cost, go with some 4-piston Wilwood calipers, or something along those lines.

LOL; I should figured that'd happen... okay, smart-*** I mean not worried about cost between a rebuild kit and already-rebuilt stock caliper. I can't justify getting an exotic front brake setup for my car when it's just a v6.

Sheesh you guys are picky!

[edit] I've come to this conclusion: I'm going to hunt down new front brake hoses today. I'll worry about calipers next week. I hate doing work twice but hey, it's the 4th of July, I don't want to spend 2 hours in the garage Friday morning. I'd rather just spend 1 hour for the front brake hoses; most of which should be trying to get a jack under my now-lowered car. Can't slide the hydraulic under the front anymore. I've gotta raise up one control arm using an old-school (mid-70's) "screw" jack- looks like a hydraulic but you turn a center screw which lifts the car. Then I can get enough room to slide the hydraulic underneath.

When the car's in the air, I'll also give all my new toys another lube job, change the oil, and check the torque of the LCA bolts.

Either do them yourself, or get some rebuilt ones from Autozone or whatever. If you have a shop do 'em, and they F them up, you have to jump through hoops, and odds are - they'll get F'd up again.

If you do them yourself, you know they are done by the book.

If you get some from AZ, you can bring 'em back, and prolly get a lifetime replacement on 'em!

wow tom, u need a lower jack..lol my big 3 ton jack sits at 3" and fits under my car nicely, if your car is lower than 3inchs at the control arms then yikes, that makes your front at like what 2 1/2-2" maybe lower?

Okay, here's the scoop on the measurements-

Crossmember-to-ground: 4 inches

Bottom of air dam to ground: 5 inches

Height of tom's 2.5ton floor jack: 5 inches

ROFL! My buddy's 5.0 '95 Stang did that after lowering the car about 2"....

Solution -

Put down some 2x4s, and roll up onto them (set 'em as tho they were running front to back, or like you'd roll up on a lift) and then you should have just enough room to get the jack under there!

There are several floor jack that are very low.
Sears also has them, so will Harbor Freight.
