DARN KIDS!! Firebird and Red Paint Cans do not mix!!

I was driving home tonight at around 12:30 am in my Firebird and found two kids playing out in the road. I watched them run into the bushes when they seen my headlights coming. I wasn't paying attention to the road when something hit under my car. I stopped to get out and look and found a crushed gallon paint can lying in the middle of the road.

I called the police and a Green Twp. officer came, took a police report, and left!! He said I would be given a follow up within the next couple of days. By that time I was really pissed. On the rest of the drive home my car acted wobbly and was steering itself to the left... it has never done this before.

Could it by my imagination, or could something have broke under my car? I did examine it first thing when I came home and pulled into the garage. There is red paint splattered all over my floor boards and there is some that got splattered on the under part of my ground effects.

So my next question is, how do I go about getting the car looked at for any damage without it coming out of my wallet? I've had two accidents before (Got off scott free with the first), but never anything like this, at least not somebody else damaging my car.

* * *Be sure to check out my next post, "How to kill two kids who throw paint cans in the street for people to run over, for dumies" * * *

I appreciate any ideas, thanks, Firebirdjoe

Alignement, knocked wheel weight off, bent rim, knot in the tire. I doubt it bent anything.

I notice when I hit pothole in the road, my steering is strange for a bit, and slowly evens back out.

Where did you hit the paint can? Straight-on? Off to the side? With the tire?

If straight-on, I'm guessing a bent center-link. The center link and the idler arm are "wear parts" anyway, they just wear out over time due to the design of our cars.

I'm not sure where it hit, I know it was under my car. My cars tires didn't hit anything because I didn't feel a heavy bump. I have no idea, my guess is that something under the car hit it. I have a very worn suspension, my car sits pretty low.
