What to use to clean upper plenum?

I need to take my upper plenum off to replace two frayed wires on a fuel injector harness. I have the new harness and am just going to use some butt connectors to splice in the new connector, I assume that is second best to soldering it in. Well I thought while I have the plenum off I should try to clean the thing. I thought maybe I should buy a ton of degreaser or something and soak it overnight and let it air dry. I am wondering if anyone else has cleaned that sucker another way.

carb cleaner will clean almost anything.

EDIT: and it works great as Potato Cannon Fuel.

I used carb cleaner and like a metal SOS pad type thing (similar but without the chemicals) I tied a wire through the metal sponge and pulled it through all the ports on the intake plenum. It ended up cleaning up very well.

(I just used a wire brush on an electric wheel to clean up the outside of it)

That idea of the pad on the wire sounds like a good one. I have a can of brake/parts cleaner I think I will try using and letting it air dry before I reinstall it.

Holley throtle body cleaner is the best one made.

I used them all and its the only one that really works. Use a giant cans of gumout and it was like soap n water compared to the Holley stuff.

isn't carb cleaner bad for us mpfi guys? I would go with some kind of Intake and TB cleaner, and don't use it over clean concrete unless you want a nice big stain

Well I am going to have the plenum off so I don't think it matters what I use as long as I let it dry out. Maybe I will see about soaking it in some degreaser.

I thought carb cleaner removed the "protective coatings" on our fuel injection parts? not sure but i'd use tb spray instead... use holleys' tb spray since it was recommended

Don't use carb cleaner on teh tb. The plenum is a different matter.

Oven cleaner worked great for me! I used masking tape and covered every hole but 1 and filled the plenum up until it came back out. I let it set for awhile while I replaced the intake gaskets for the 2nd time.
I then used cheap damn carb cleaner to blast the junk out. Then went to work with a dremel tool to polish.
Came out pretty good.
Oh yeah, I also used the dremel with the extention and the brush piece to run thru the plenum for the tough stuff.
Later................

I pick up clean and powder coat bike cars often and the Holley throtle body cleaner is the best. It cleans everything, even the brass parts.

Penskee [bad spelin I bet] degreaser in the pump spray bottle is another good product that works 100 times better over the rest.
