MAF question

I have a MAF from a 90-92 2.8L off of a junked camaro. I have an 89 2.8L so i tested the MAF on my car, but doesnt work . It makes the engine stutter and it doesnt run correctly until it starts moving. Im not sure if the part is bad or if its a different part number than the one on my 89. Are there any differences in the 89 MAF and the 90-92 MAF?

It can't be from a 90-92 Camaro if it has a MAF. The 90-92's were Speed Density (MAP) and don't have a MAF. Plus 90-92's were 3.1L, not 2.8L. If it looks the same and has the same 3 wire(?) harness w/ the orange film inside, it should be the same. As long as you don't have the V8 version, which is a heated wire inside.

That's a 2.8 MAF. It'll work on your 2.8 Camaro. (Firebird MAFs are a little different because they have a 45 degree bend on the end)

that one looks a little different than the one in the car now though. On this one, the chip is green and tick but the one in the car now isn't.

well it might not work right b/c the MAF could already be shot, thats the problem with taking them out of junkyards, how many miles were on the car u took it from?

I cant remember exactly how many miles were on teh car but it wasn't an extreme amount. I actually found it in the back of a fire hall. The fire hall was practicing on it and cutting it up but i got to it before they touched the front end. They said the car ran before they chopped it up. Kind of a waste of camaro if u ask me.
