How much power do I have now?
How much power do I have now?
The mods that I have done are as follows on my 2.8 V6:
Headers
Custom y-pipe
Dynomax catback system (I don't have a cat anymore)
No emissions equipment
Dual snorkel intake w/air boxes gutted
8.8 MM wires
45,000 volt coil
aluminum driveshaft
throttle body bypass
well that is pretty much it I think, everything else that I have done has been to the suspension. I am thinking that stock is 135 HP, so with loss due to age, and wear and tear I am starting with about 125, and with my mods, maybe 150 or 160 hp and maybe 200 lbs of torque. Does this sound about right to you guys?

Anyway, back to the question, I think you would be putting out about 150-ish at the crank.

True, true... plus 90% of the emissions stuff doesn't hurt the engine's performance anyway. PCV helps the engine stay cleaner. EGR reduces NOx emissions, and only comes on when you're cruising, not when you're flooring the gas. New cats are more efficient than our stockers from the 80's. The charcoal canister soaks up gas fumes, purge runs off of engine vacuum/PCV, so that's not hurting power either.
The only possible drag would be the AIR pump, if the car came with one.

Well, the car has 74000 miles, and I haven't replaced the timing chain. I still have the charcoal canister and PCV valve, I just removed the cat and egr. I took all of this off the day after I passed smog...so, I have another two years before I worry about that. By that time I will be in college, and am hoping to go to the University of Arizona. And, arizona does not have smog laws.
Edit: Tom, the car did not come with a smog pump.

Its funny you can't sell yours and I can not find one forsale in Nova Scotia thats worth looking into. Theres lots of ****** machines and rusted out junkers. Then theres the mint mint mint, the guys that want 6-8 grand. Then some Guys think there 84 camaro with a 2.8 is worth 2500-4000... wtf. Theres one forsale down here right now, there asking 4100, for an 84. I looked at another one, the car was nice, the guy was fixing it up, 2300 bucks, 84 with a 2.8. Man I took it for a drive, damn the old carbed cars are even more dog slow then our FI cars.
Oh well, I decided I want to go TBI, so I am trying to find something like that, hopefully an 88 or newer will be in almost fit to drive condition.
