I have an 82 v6 automatic I pulled the wheels off the other day and found aluminum drums!!! Isn't this kinda rare for a v6 car with an open rear???

It's only rare if you can prove your car came from the factory with them. Even then, I doubt it would be a big selling point.

I remember Tom p posting something about them when i did a search about something before., I dont think they came on your car, someone probably put them on.
Yeah & no
When the "factory" runs out of a "part" factory "tends" to just ship, "what else fits" until supplier catches up again.
Or yep, definetly a swapped item from wrecking yard donor.

however much you can sucker someone into paying
The harsh reality is that the vast majority of used parts aren't worth that much, unless ....
the car is very new, and finding one is a million : one odds (ls1 cars in bone yards w/ full interior (better be leather) and has a six speed.... rare find - worth $$
The car is very old, and finding one is a million : one odds. (1969 Hemi powered Dodge Charger, Fully together yet wasting away, and all those damned numbers are still matching)
So basically, it's only worth what people are willing to pay, and the vast majority of people would much rather waste the $$ on a disc brake setup for the back, than to dump it into a set of alluminum drums. As streetrodder's magazine add always says (These drums are the poor man's discs) doesn't give much room for demanding a high $$ price.

to help you out a lil more, i was on ebay and saw some aluminum drums off a datsun 240Z, they're brand new drums, however are only going for 25 bux right now, w/o reserve being met....the reserve is at 95 bux. I wouldn't expect some from a camaro to be worth more, most likely less

Yah but paying 50$ for a set of aluminum drums is still alot cheaper than putting on rear discs. Just wondering because I am going to swap them for a set of iron drums and dump the car. I have 2 other projects that need my attention.
