Fabbed an oil restrictor
Sweet simple little piece.. alot of people who have used oil restrictors in various turbos have gone with .8mm restrictor orifices... I went with .035"/.9mm just to err on the safe side of things.. simple 1" long brass insert for my oil feed hose. Results in tomorrow, unless it works so well that I take the car cross-country to test it.. ... err.. drat. the tranny's still leaking out the input shaft seal.. can't do that.. oh well, results tomorrow

Woo! Went from 10 to 15 psi hot idle oil pressure! Yeah! not.. There might be some tightening left in the clamp to reduce flow around the restrictor.. we'll find out *after* the turbo has cooled down.
On the real upside, oil pressure response to engine rpm is dramatically improved.. over 30psi hot at 3000 rpm. was lucky to get 20 previously. On the right track, but it looks like the .9mm restrictor might have been too large after all. .8mm for the next attempt.. got 6 feet of bronze rod to keep milling out these 1" restrictors

Those are good for vacuum gauges and Id expect boost gauges as well. Give you a smoother needle. I paid extra to have inserts installed in my two vacuum gauges and then I added my own down the line with some .41 motorcycle pilot jets.
I actually bought them for carb tuning bikes but 1 is still MIA
and the other is on the 3rd gen dash.
gaugestore.com is where I got em. $7-$9 with pressed in fittings.

After some extra testing, I'm throwing in the towel. New turbo and 3.1 short block with high volume oil pump have just been placed onto the to-do list. *sigh*

Why??? I think you have plenty of PSI for the turbo bearings. crank up the boost and stomp the gas.

To hell with the turbo bearings.. the main and rod bearings have my undivided attention at this moment.

yeah.. mechanical gauge is next on the to-do list.. anyway, might as well drive it till it breaks.

Course where you check the oil PSI might be different too. I wonder where is the farthest point in the system that you can test. long as you got 20 at the end of the run you had plenty over all.
