Engine Specs

Other than a shop manual, where can I find detailed specs for the 3.1? I need things like head flow, cam specs, valve specs, etc etc.

Much appreciated!

I have never seen flow #'s for out heads. They do have 85cc intake ports and 60cc exhaust ports.
The valve sizes are 1.43 and 1.72.
The cam and valve train sucks the stock cam is only going to make about .4'' of lifton the intake and .42'' on the exhaust.
The stock valves and springs are only good for .440'' of lift no more.
Theres more on my cardomain site.

Is there any way to do a homemade flow bench? I know it could never be accurate... but I wonder about something that you could do, to actually say "yes, I made an improvement". Know what I mean?

they have flowbench kits out there that are fairly accurate. You also need a shopvac with a good amount of airflow.

Know where someone might be able to find one of them?

If you want a flow bench

Go to MSN.com and search "flow bench" and the in the first few hits there will be plans for a MSD designed home made flow bench.

If you look at the V6 heads flow #'s you will see why our engines suck.
I all ways said the exhaust flowed good and that the intake didn't.
The exhaust flows all most as good as the intake.
