the plugs may be for things your car deosn't have. it wouldn't be odd for gm to make a change in the engine sensers but not change a harness or use up all the old harnesses before going to the new wiring. shouldn't be hard to find where they go since the wire is only so long and would have to reach whatever it plugs into.

I went out and peeked under my hood to get a better idea of what you were talking about, but I didnt see any connectors like that. Like ede said, they may be for components that arent on your vehicle. Im assuming your not getting an SES light? I wouldnt really worry about it.

That first connector doesn't look familiar at all.......but it might go down to the smog pump (under the alternator).

That second one *might* be the fuel pump test wire.......what relay is that coming from??

i cant find anywhere to plug the first one in to...the second one it doesnt come from a relay it comes from the harness, the plug just sticks out

as far as the ses light, i get a code 32 , im going to check around the alternator to see if there is any plug

Well, im not seeing this connector.

Given what we know about it, (Nothing at the moment) and the fact that our engine bays are layed out differently, its damn near impossible for me to judge.

Hopefully someone with a bird can take a look and see if they can find it.

The single wire to the right side of the engine bay is just a test wire. No need to hook it up to any thing. The other one has me stumped. Could you get a little wider angle shoot of it? Being able to see more of what is around it might make it easier to figure out.

OK studied the pic a little more and figure out what area I was looking at. Unforthunetly I could find a similar one on my car, do the '90 birds use a vaccum type EGR or the digital EGR? If it uses the vaccum type does it plug into it or the controll soliond (SP?)?\

There's a solenoid on the back of the smog pump underneath the alternator. See if its hooked up. If it's not, that 2 wire connector might go to it. I'm too lazy to go look at mine.

Don't worry about the single wire connector though.

EDIT: BitchinRS, the 90-92 uses the digital EGR valve with a triangular shaped 4-wire connector.

okay so i took another pic, correct me if im wrong but i think my car doesnt use a solenoid, i heard this on the board and my haynes book , 90 firebird 3.1, if my car doesnt use a solenoid im guessing its one of those things that pontiac put on the engine in case it did come with the solenoid it would be connected if it didnt it would just be there.. am i wrong

Yeah, that goes to the smog pump. That picture confirms it.

The solenoid is mounted BEHIND the pump where you can't see it. You might even have to have to remove the pump but it's not hard at all. 10 minutes tops.

BTW, the smog pump is what's in the very bottom left corner of that picture.

No you don't have the EGR controll solenoid. As CaliCamaroRS pointed out you have the digital EGR. I knew the '92 had the digital EGR but wasn't sure what year they started useing them.

He's talking about the EGR. I'm talking about the SOLENOID ON THE BACK OF THE AIR INJECTION PUMP UNDERNEATH THE ALTERNATOR.

Hey man in that last picture I see some antifreeze (radioactive green color in the picture) underneath your upper radiator hose; is your thermostat housing leaking?

(The only fluid I hate worse than antifreeze is super-dirty-brown antifreeze.)

Yes, thats smog pump plug.

Red wire is I belive a test jumper wire for the fuel pump. Just tape it up and tuck back into the harness.
